The rising trend of leopard gecko is undeniable. Many captive breeds of this specie are being sold in most exotic pet trade. Leopard geckos are among the large geckos found in the world with their adulthood length of 8-9 inches. They have yellow background color with black spots. However, when they’re still young, their appearance have stripes all over their yellow skin and are fading into spots when they grow up. They are native from the countries of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. As you notice, they are natives from countries which have hot weather condition. Yet, they can be tamed in any place without regarding the weather in your locality. When having your very own leopard gecko, it is essential for you as the owner to give your pet the basic needs of living. First will be the housing like aquarium. Leopard geckos are lack of adhesive lamellae which made them unable to walk up vertically so it is better for you to provide a long aquarium than a high one. Make sure that with every aquarium you have, allow only one male per housing. Males fight each other a lot so they should be keep from one another. These can be done by coating their foods with much supplement or by allowing the insects to eat a lot of nutritional foods which your leopard gecko can ingest. Just like every meal, young ones must supplemented everyday while adults every other day. Gravid females must also be supplemented every meal so that they can attain energy from laying of eggs. If there’s the case which your pet can be handled, feed them in separate container. By doing this, you can monitor its feeding and your pet can be keep from ingesting some substrates. Fresh water in bowl is also essential. Make sure you change them in daily basis so that it can’t be contaminated by any means of fungus and bacterias. You may also provide them with moist are. Even though they came from a hot weather climate, proper humidity is also accurate. By speaking of proper humidity, it doesn’t mean that the cage must be fully wet. It is best if their hide boxes  are moisten so that humidity can be attained.

Leopard geckos are easy to breed. A male can  mate with many females that’s why pet owners tend to put one male with several females in one cage. If the female’s abdomen have bump on each side, this means that its pregnant already. You may put a cool hiding place for them because females seek this kind of place for their laying area. Females can lay clutches of eggs per breeding season. After laying the eggs, they must be taken away from the laying box and incubate it in vermiculite with  1:1 ratio of water. If the temperature inside the incubator is 85 degrees, then the eggs are expected to hatch in about two months. It is said that the higher the temperature is, the more production of females will be. However, as de Vosjoli said, this way of incubating will produce more aggressive females.
